• • Overheard in Hollywood • •
• • Bosomy actress Mae West and fan dancer Sally Rand have been invited to play Lady Godiva in Dubbo's Jubilee Week procession in October.
• • In Her Own Words • •
• • Mae West said:  "I've always liked athletes because they don't smoke, don't drink, and understand the importance of keeping their bodies in top working order — — and a hard man is good to find."
• • Quote, Unquote • •
• • A fan magazine mentioned Mae West.
• • Well, sir, I finds myself next in Skagway. That's a great little place, Skagway. There I met the peppy, old, walrus-mustached gent, Martin Itjen who drove down to Hollywood last year in his gayly adorned "Skagway Streetcar" just to see Mae West. He saw her, all right, and they had their pictures taken together. . . .

• • Note: Hoping to drum up innovative publicity for his totally refurbished Soapy Smith museum, in the mid-1930s Martin Itgen (born in 1870) took his street-car to Tinseltown to sing the praises of Skagway, Alaska's tourism potential.
• • In Hollywood, he paid homage to Mae West, the star of "Klondike Annie," who cordially posed with him.  Thanks to Mae's graciousness, Martin Itgen was able to attract other movie stars to take pictures with him.

• • The Mae West Blog celebrates its 11th anniversary • •
• • Thank you for reading, sending questions, and posting comments during these past eleven years. The other day we entertained 3,497 visitors. And we reached a milestone recently when we completed 3,200 blog posts. Wow!
• • By the Numbers • •
• • The Mae West Blog was started ten years ago in July 2004. You are reading the 3236th blog post. Unlike many blogs, which draw upon reprinted content from a newspaper or a magazine and/ or summaries, links, or photos, the mainstay of this blog is its fresh material focused on the life and career of Mae West, herself an American original.
